Psycho-Social Assessment (NURS-1634)
Comprehensive nursing assessments rely on accurate and thorough data collection. One component of the nursing process is the client interview which includes assessment of psycho-social status. Effective communication techniques determine the accuracy of information gathered from the client.
In this course you will enhance your knowledge of techniques used to obtain a thorough and complete psycho-social assessment in psychiatric mental health nursing. You will describe the communication process within the clinical interview. You will develop your understanding of the components in mental status assessment including affect, behaviour, cognitive functions, thought processes, and culture.
Prerequisite: LPN/RN/RPN (You will be required to provide your license number at the time of registration.)
