Catch Your Career Dream

The classes are fun, the journey is difficult, and the rewards are unimaginable!
Jazz Rae Goldsack
Professional Cooking certificate
Hometown: Spruce Grove AB

Jazz Rae Goldsack took a roundabout way to find her future in the kitchen: “After high school I spent four years trying to figure out what career I wanted. My mom had passed her cooking talent on to me – my fiancée called my cooking amazing and suggested I look into training possibilities in that field.”

Goldsack used SIAST’s Summer Transition Support Program* to get ready to re-enter school, then hit the ground running in the Professional Cooking program at SIAST Kelsey Campus. She sees culinary arts as her future and she loves being in school: “I have a tutor through Learning Services who’s ultra-friendly and really makes sure that I understand my work. Plus I get great support from my partner, Nicole. School has been a great experience.”

Her SIAST adventure was chock-full of opportunities and accomplishments. During her program, she was a contender in cooking at the Skills Canada Saskatchewan competition, she rocked her work placement at a Saskatoon hotel kitchen and at graduation was honoured with a SIAST achievement award. Most recently, Jazz was named 2013 Junior Chef of the Year from the Canadian Culinary Federation – Saskatoon branch. She says her career choice was spot-on: “I wanted something I would enjoy every day, something I am good at and something that is fun and challenging at the same time. I have found it.”
