Job Title: Representative Workforce Consultant, Human Resources
Misty Brabant, a First Nations woman, may not be a Saskatchewan Polytechnic student or graduate, but she's an integral part of the institution's community. She spends her time at work helping to advance indigenization throughout the institution and has developed a series of Aboriginal awareness training sessions for employees.
"As a Cree woman, I enjoy working at Sask Polytech because it is an environment that is welcoming and innovative," she says. "Sask Polytech has embraced indigenization and is working very hard to ensure we have an understanding environment for both students and staff."
Her work at Sask Polytech focuses on Indigenous recruitment and retention, and representative workforce strategy development. If she was to give one piece of advice it would be to take risks, and don't be afraid to ask for help.
"Be proud of who you are and always show respect to others," she says.
