Athletics and Recreation in Saskatoon
Campus Recreation coordinates athletics, clubs, fitness/lifestyle programs and intramurals at Sask Polytech, Saskatoon Campus. The Saskatchewan Polytechnic Students' Association and the Recreation Services Department co-sponsor these areas of programming under the umbrella of Saskatoon Campus Recreation.
Recreation services provides students with opportunities to grow and enrich their lives by participating in enjoyable leisure activities. Services include:
We compete in the Prairie Athletic Conference (PAC) against post-secondary schools in Saskatchewan and Alberta in the following sports:
- Indoor Soccer
- Table Tennis
In the fall term we offer men’s and women’s volleyball with tryouts in early September; the playing season runs September through November. In January try outs will be held for men’s and women’s Basketball and Soccer. Basketball runs January through March. Soccer teams will travel to two weekend tournaments wrapping up by mid-February.
Golf, Curling, Badminton and Table Tennis will all be weekend championship tournaments with golf held in September and the rest in March.

River Kayaking and Scuba are two clubs that offer instruction at various times over the course of the year. Both clubs are very popular so check them out early.
There are also opportunities for skiing and snowboarding at Table Mountain. Friday evening bus trips leave Saskatchewan Polytechnic Saskatoon Campus, Idylwyld Dr. at 4:30 pm and return around midnight. Details will be posted early in the new year.
Saskatoon campus on Idylwyld Dr. has separate strength and aerobic fitness centres. These well-equipped facilities accommodate all levels of fitness.
Open 6 a.m. to 10:45 p.m., 7 days per week.
A fitness consultant is available on a part-time basis to answer questions and assist with workouts from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. during the school year. A small group or individual orientation to the fitness centres can also be booked through fitness consultant, Kelly Wells, by dropping into the office (rm 118.1) during lunch hour, calling 306-659-4358, or emailing email@example.com.
Saskatchewan Polytechnic students have free access to these centres. Staff, alumni and public can purchase memberships from the Student Association office.

Campus Recreation offers a wide variety of sport league activities promoting the competitive and social aspects of participation. Participants can sign up individually, as a class or as a group.
Activities planned for this year include: slow pitch, volleyball, basketball, table tennis, floor hockey, indoor soccer, curling, dodgeball, and badminton.
Club Sport - Volleyball/Basketball
Open to Saskatoon campus students, staff and alumni, gym time has been reserved for volleyball and basketball on a weekly basis - Tuesdays and Thursdays, 4:00 to 5:15 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to play on a regular basis throughout the school term beyond the level that the intramural program would offer.
As this is the initial year, we will be looking for participant involvement in establishing how the program will run. Show up as an individual or as a team - just show up and join in the fun.
Check out the drop-in gym schedule for access to daytime recreational opportunities in the Saskatoon campus gym. Drop-in volleyball and floor hockey times are scheduled over weekday noon hours as are open times for any activity.
