Power Engineering Technology Program Selection Process Guide for Applicants

The Power Engineering Technology program is a high-demand program, and has specific selection criteria in addition to specified admission requirements.

Registration Services will send Letters of Offer to top applicants by the end of March. Applicants on the alternate list will remain on the list until the program start date.

Extra Points Guideline

If you are applying for work experience points, complete your employment history.

Extra points can be earned in the following categories (not applicable for current high school students):

Post-secondary Education:
(points awarded for the highest of the following)

Points Awarded
Certificate 1 point
Diploma  2 points
Degree 3 points
Journeyperson 3 points
Power Engineering Certification: Points Awarded
5th Class Power Engineering TSASK Certificate 2 points

Work Experience:
(points awarded for the highest of the following)

Points Awarded

Five or more years of work experience

5 points

Two or more years of related industry experience

2 points

Related Industries:

Mining, Oil Refining, Process Operating, Building/Facilities Management/Maintenance, Piping/Pipeline, Boiler Maker, Electrical, Instrumentation, Plumbing, Powerline, Refrigeration Operation, Steamfitter, Welding/Steel Fabrication Mechanics, in the following disciplines:

  • Agriculture
  • Auto
  • Heavy Duty
  • Industrial (Millwright)
  • Refrigeration

To be considered, all post-secondary documents must be sent directly to Saskatchewan Polytechnic from the issuing institution.

 

Application Checklist

In order to ensure that your application is complete, you will need to submit the following:

  • Employment history (required if you are applying for work experience points)
  • Transcripts for any Post-Secondary education (must be sent directly to Registration Services from the issuing education institution)
