You will learn the anatomy, structure and function of the nail, foot and skin. You will learn how to identify common nail and skin pathology, as well as structural pathology of the foot and related nursing interventions. Your studies will focus on an overview of the medical device reprocessing (MDR) department as well as duties and responsibilities of Medical Device Reprocessing technicians. You will gain valuable information whether you are new to the area or have previous reprocessing experience. You will study medical terminology, major body systems, microbiology, infection control, confidentiality, safety and required Canadian standards related to medical device reprocessing.

Prerequisites: Grade 12 or GED 12, SIAST English Language Proficiency


This course currently has no offerings.

You will study the theory related to interviewing techniques, history taking and a head-to-toe physical assessment. You will have the opportunity to attend a two-day lab where you will focus on performing a comprehensive assessment of the adult client. An evaluation of the assessment skills will be scheduled with an experienced instructor/evaluator.
