Continuing Nursing Education


This course focuses on increasing your knowledge of the different classes of oral medications used to manage type 2 diabetes. You will study the medications’ mode of action, their potential side effects and the clinical markers considered when an anti-hyperglycemic agent is prescribed.

Prerequisites: Diabetes Mellitus: Classifications and Diagnosis (NURS 1667), LPN, RN or RPN

This course will provide a review of kidney disease and enhance your knowledge regarding resources and care of the patient with kidney disease, both acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease. You will focus on care and management of the patient with chronic kidney disease. You will study principles of nursing practice as they apply to renal replacement therapy and vascular access. Pharmacology, lab values, and lifestyle management related to chronic kidney disease will be discussed with a focus on prevention, treatment and care.
