Engineering Technology Non-Credit Courses


You will learn more advanced topics such as point object and layer filtering, attributes and data extraction, user co-ordinate systems (UCS), system variables and settings including the ACAP.PCP file. Further topics will include assembling drawings with XREFs, an introduction to documentation using Paperspace and an introduction to 3D and rendering via demonstrations. Intermediate topics will include additional coverage of blocks, symbols and file management, and more detailed discussion of selected sets and grips. You will also be introduced to macros, scripts and slides, and a demonstration of menu customization.

Prerequisites: Successful completion of AutoCAD® for the Professional Level I, AutoCAD® LT (CAD 1800), or equivalent training and/or experience as approved by Kelsey.

This hands-on course covers two-dimensional features and commands in AutoCAD. Topics include AutoCAD Interface, AutoCAD Theory, syntax inserting 2D geometry line, circle, arc, point, object snap, zoom, pan, fillets, chamfers, trim, extend, offset, inquiry, grids, text, making changes, line types and layers. Topics include move, copy, rotate, scale, mirror, array, stretch, graphic manipulation, grips, crosshatching, dimensioning, blocks, reference files, advanced text, special objects and plotting. The course also covers basic drafting fundamentals and geometry theory for students who require it.

Prerequisites: Basic working knowledge of Windows XP or Vista, able to create folders, copying and deleting files, being able to maneuver around in, and basic knowledge of geometry would be helpful.

You will begin by learning the AutoCAD® user interface. Your studies will include drawing set-up, co-ordinate systems, drawing tools, editing commands, display options, blocks and symbols, layers, colours and line types, as well as basic text, dimensioning and plotting. You will learn inquiry commands, crosshatching, introduction to grips and a demonstration of some additional features. You should expect to spend an additional 2 to 4 hours per week to become proficient with these applications.

Prerequisites: Previous training or experience in engineering drafting. Familiarity with IBM compatible computers is an asset.
