This course provides a general overview of mine safety and offers an introduction to: personal protective equipment; safe use of hand and power tools; safe use of scaffolding and ladders; controlled energy safety; environmental awareness and spill reporting; hazard identification and control; reporting incidents; Saskatchewan Mining Regulations & Saskatchewan Employment Act; ground control awareness and safe work practices; self-rescue techniques; asbestos awareness; and fit for duty and drug testing.

Prerequisites: WHMIS 1800 or an equivalent recognized course is a pre-requisite or co-requisite for SFTY 1808.
