Accounting Certificate

The Accounting certificate program provides practical and specialized training in the accounting profession. You may apply for the Saskatchewan Polytechnic Accounting certificate upon successfully completing the following 10 required courses, plus two of three elective courses (ACCT 122, ACCT 125, ACCT 220, ACCT 221, ACCT 226, ACCT 227, ACCT 236, ADTG 220, FIN 220, TAX 221, plus two of ECON 100, STAT 120 or LAW 220).

You will study the necessary theory and tools for understanding, analyzing and designing computer-based accounting information systems at the introductory level. You will study the theory and participate in practical applications that support your studies as an accounting student. The course includes an introduction to the field of electronic commerce.

Your studies will focus on an introduction to financial accounting designed to provide you with accounting skills to handle business transactions. The course will include bookkeeping techniques, accounting for a merchandising concern and control over cash and receivables. Accounting for payroll is also introduced in this course.
