Transmissions, hoists share space with chandeliers at fundraiser for Aboriginal students

May 1, 2015 - The Saskatchewan Polytechnic President's Gala presented by PotashCorp will honour alumni, program and industry partnerships at the most luxurious garage party in the province.

Location: Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Saskatoon Campus, 1130 Idylwyld Dr N, Saskatoon SK, Automotive Service Technician program area
Reception: 5:30 p.m.
Dinner: 6:30 p.m.

The Automotive Service Technician training area at Sask Polytech's Saskatoon campus will be transformed with crisp linen, sparkling stemware and stunning decor as Dr. Larry Rosia presents the President's Partnership Awards.

Award recipients include:
- Cameco Corporation - Industry Partnership Award
- Steve McLellan - Alumni Partnership Award
- Faculty of Nursing, University of Regina - Program Partnership Award

"Tomorrow's gala is a time for us to pause to express our appreciation to our partners for everything they do to help us succeed in our mission: To educate students and provide skilled and successful graduates," says Dr. Larry Rosia, Sask Polytech's president and CEO.

Proceeds from the gala will benefit Sask Polytech's Aboriginal Student Achievement Plan, an initiative that provides Aboriginal students with the supports they need to succeed in their programs.

"By celebrating partnerships and supporting the Aboriginal Student Achievement Plan, we are recognizing the people and programs that will help our province continue to grow in the decades ahead," says Jochen Tilk, president and CEO of PotashCorp, the event's presenting sponsor.

The evening's entertainment will feature some of the finest storytellers, dancers, singers and personalities, including Jacob Pratt, Belle Plaine, Blake Berglund and Brett Balon. They reflect the diversity of Saskatchewan … its people and culture, its past and its future. Richard Brown will emcee the event.
