Families and friends from around the world can watch online as their loved ones cross the stage

June 10, 2015 - Families and friends of Saskatchewan Polytechnic graduands can watch Friday's convocation ceremony in Prince Albert from the comfort of their homes through the Saskatchewan Polytechnic website.

"It's important to live-stream our convocation ceremony as we have students from all edges of Saskatchewan, across Canada and around the world attend Saskatchewan Polytechnic," says Dr. Larry Rosia, president and CEO. "Families and friends who are unable to travel to attend this momentous occasion are able to virtually celebrate this academic milestone."

Saskatchewan Polytechnic students and alumni will be recognized at the convocation for industry development, community building and academic achievement. Bob Stromberg, Saskatchewan Polytechnic board member; Dr. Larry Rosia, Saskatchewan Polytechnic president and CEO; Honourable Scott Moe, Minister of Advanced Education; and other dignitaries will be on hand for the presentation of three major awards, including Saskatchewan Polytechnic's honorary diploma, Outstanding Citizenship Award and Innovation Award.

Sue Delanoy, Saskatchewan Polytechnic alumnus and executive director of the Elizabeth Fry Society, will receive an honorary diploma for her contributions to the development and delivery of programs and services for families and youth in Saskatchewan. The Outstanding Citizenship Award will be given to Erin Kirton from the business certificate program for community building and providing international student mentorship. Leila Benmerrouche, an Integrated Resource Management student, will receive the Innovation Award. This award is given to one Sask Polytech student each year. Benmerrouche receives this award for her innovation and leadership on an applied research dragonfly project.   

A total of 225 graduates will be participating in the ceremony on Friday afternoon, representing 39 Saskatchewan Polytechnic certificate and diploma programs, Adult 12 and the Faculty Certificate Program.
