    FSIN partners with Saskatchewan Polytechnic to focus on Indigenous student success - Fsin Partners With Sask. Polytech To Focus On Indigenous Student Success (Treaty 6 Territory, Saskatoon, SK) — The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) and Saskatchewan Polytechnic (Sask. Polytech) signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to set a framework to promote the Inherent and Treaty Right to Education for First Nations students and implementing the calls to action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada.

    Empowering women to follow their passion - Empowering women to follow their passion Women in Trades & Technology gives women the confidence to do anything, including manage their own business! Penny Jean Wohlberg is a journeyperson carpenter and owner of Renovation Jeannie. She is also a strong supporter of Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Women in Trades & Technology (WITT) program. “For me it all started with WITT,” says Penny. “WITT is all about empowering women and giving them confidence. WITT was the catalyst that kick-started my career in the trades.”

Indigenous relay challenge returns to Saskatchewan Polytechnic

Indigenous relay challenge returns to Saskatchewan Polytechnic Teams of ten compete in timed historical survival style relay race. September 20, 2017 – Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Indigenous Relay Challenge returns as part of the fall equinox celebration. The event is supported through Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Indigenous Student Success Strategy. The relay takes place September 21 at the Prince Albert campus from 11:30a.m. – 1:00p.m. “We are very excited to bring back the Indigenous Relay Challenge. The challenge is a great outdoor event for students and staff to learn about day-to-day tasks early inhabitants had to endure to survive in the north,” says Indigenous Student advisor Carrie McCloy.

Mind over metal summer welding camp The Canadian Welding Association Foundation hosts Mind Over Metal summer camps for girls at Prince Albert campus August 23, 2016 –The Saskatchewan Polytechnic Women in Trades and Technology (WITT) program has partnered with the Canadian Welding Association (CWA) Foundation to host a Mind Over Metal welding summer camp for girls aged 12 to 15. The week-long camp is being hosted at the Prince Albert campus.

Saskatchewan Polytechnic is proud to support our Indigenous students, faculty and staff as we celebrate Indigenous culture on National Aboriginal Day. “National Aboriginal Day is an important event for Saskatchewan Polytechnic,” says Dr. Larry Rosia, president and CEO. “Approximately 18 percent of our student population counts itself as having Indigenous ancestry. Taking time to observe and celebrate our Indigenous culture enriches the institution’s diversity, which is one of our greatest strengths.”
