Catch Your Career Dream
Time and money were two big factors in a young Blaine Chartrand’s decision to enrol at SIAST Kelsey Campus back in the ’80s. The then-university arts student came “across the river” for a quicker and more affordable education . . . and has been at SIAST ever since.
“I realized immediately that moving to SIAST was a wise choice. I felt surrounded and welcomed by the SIAST community. Class sizes were small, so I got to know my instructors and felt that they were invested in my success. And my classmates supported and learned from each other,” sums up Chartrand. He eventually turned his passion for his program’s content into a passion for teaching it, and now, 25 years after his graduation, Chartrand is head of SIAST’s BioScience Technology program.
“We train our students to be work-ready, and we instill a strong work ethic. Students come to SIAST so they can get a job when they graduate.” His innovative and interactive teaching approach earns him rave reviews from students, and his enthusiasm remains strong: “Best of all, I get to pass along my experience and mentor the next generation of SIAST grads.”
