SCBScN program expands to Swift Current

The Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (SCBScN) is one step closer to arriving in Swift Current after the signing of a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Thursday, November 1, at Great Plains College.

This agreement between SIAST, the University of Regina, Cypress Health Region and Great Plains College will expand the SCBScN program to Swift Current, allowing for eight seats per year beginning in September 2013.

Students of the program will be able to complete all aspects of their studies in the community. Instruction will take place at Great Plains College and students will complete their clinical placements at the Cypress Regional Hospital.

"This partnership builds on SIAST's long-standing commitment to meeting the needs of both students and employers," says SIAST president and CEO Larry Rosia. "The opportunity to study nursing and take part in clinical placements close to home improves access for Swift Current area students, which in turn will ultimately benefit local health care providers."
