    Saskatchewan Polytechnic School of Nursing 50th Anniversary The School of Nursing is celebrating 50 years of quality nursing education at Saskatchewan Polytechnic April 27, 2016 – This weekend the School of Nursing will celebrate 50 years of quality nursing education at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Nearly 150 alumni, faculty, students and supporters are expected to attend the weekend’s events. “This is an exceptionally exciting year for the School of Nursing as we celebrate 50 years of quality nursing education,” says Dr. Netha Dyck, dean, School of Nursing and School of Health Sciences. “We are pleased to host celebratory events that honour the pioneering efforts of thousands of alumni in advancing nursing education, research and scholarly work. We are also celebrating the achievements of our currents students, graduates, faculty and staff.”

    The best tool for learning veterinary technologist skills is a horse; of course Saskatchewan Polytechnic’s Veterinary Technology program is the first one in North America to be home to a full sized simulation horse model A new teaching tool has arrived in the Veterinary Technology program at Saskatoon campus. It’s a prototype simulated horse that was developed in collaboration with the Veterinary Simulation Industries of Calgary. Her name is Dobbin and she’s life-like in nearly every way — she’s the same size as a horse, has palpable body parts and accessible veins.

    Alumnus trades in paramedic uniform for an apron on MasterChef Canada

    Alumnus trades in paramedic uniform for an apron on MasterChef Canada Kimberly Cairns, a 2016 Advanced Care Paramedic graduate, works as a first responder in Saskatoon and knows how to handle emergency situations. She also knows how to cook like a pro. Earlier this year she had a chance to show off her skills in the fourth season of CTV’s MasterChef Canada. “It was an indescribable experience,” says Cairns, who decided to audition on a whim. “I knew I always loved cooking. I knew I was good at it, and my personality was show worthy. So I took a chance and it worked out.”
