    Saskatchewan Polytechnic collaborative research puts patients first Patient-oriented research is becoming the norm for health related research, and for good reasons. It focuses on patient priorities and outcomes and includes patients as active collaborators throughout the research process. “Patient-oriented research engages patients as partners and improves patient outcomes,” says Dr. Susan Blum, associate vice-president, Applied Research and Innovation. “This innovative, applied approach aims to improve Saskatchewan’s healthcare systems and practices.”

    First graduates of the Swift Current option of the SCBScN program celebrate achievements with a pinning ceremony Pinning ceremony is a graduation tradition for nursing that originated in the 1860s June 1, 2017 – On Friday the first cohort of students from the Saskatchewan Collaborative Bachelor of Science in Nursing (SCBScN) program who completed their four years of education in Swift Current will celebrate their graduation by being presented with a nursing pin. The time-honoured tradition of the nursing pin began at the Nightingale School of Nursing and is a symbol of honour, courage, dedication and privilege of being a nurse.

    The School of Nursing celebrates prestigious awards This month we celebrate National Nursing Week, the School of Nursing 50th Anniversary and nursing awards May 11, 2017 – May is a very exciting month for the School of Nursing. Saskatchewan Polytechnic is celebrating National Nursing Week, our School of Nursing 50th anniversary and Saskatchewan Registered Nurses’ Association (SRNA) awards. This week is National Nursing Week, an annual celebration of education and careers in nursing. It coincides with our School of Nursing 50th anniversary on May 13 at Saskatoon campus. “We are very proud of our School of Nursing and all they have accomplished this month and since 1967,” says Dr. Anne Neufeld, provost and vice-president, Academic. “Saskatchewan Polytechnic has been a leader in nursing education for registered nurses, registered psychiatric nurses, registered nurse/nurse practitioners and licensed practical nurses for 50 years. Congrats to our Sask Polytech SRNA award winners.”

    Saskatchewan Polytechnic School of Nursing 50th Anniversary The School of Nursing is celebrating 50 years of quality nursing education at Saskatchewan Polytechnic May 9, 2016 – This weekend the School of Nursing will celebrate 50 years of quality nursing education at Saskatchewan Polytechnic. Over 200 alumni, faculty, students and supporters are expected to attend the weekend’s events. “This is an exceptionally exciting year for the School of Nursing as we celebrate 50 years of quality nursing education,” says Dr. Netha Dyck, dean, School of Nursing and School of Health Sciences. “We are pleased to host celebratory events that honour the pioneering efforts of thousands of alumni in advancing nursing education, research and scholarly work. We are also celebrating the achievements of our currents students, graduates, faculty and staff.”
