The Academic Council is the senior academic approval body for Saskatchewan Polytechnic, accountable to the Senior Leadership Council. Academic Council helps to ensure Sask Polytech provides high-quality, job-focused education that meets labour market needs as they evolve.
The council's primary responsibilities are to:
- Recommend approval of new programs
- Approve major revisions to current programs
- Provide input on academic standards, policies and procedures
Decisions made by the council consider benefits to the organization as a whole, not just benefits to individual schools or programs.
Membership
Voting members:
- Faculty members – Four (4) representatives from the schools and departments (one from each faculty)
- One representative from the Learning and Teaching division
- One faculty representative within Student Services
- One member at large from any school or division
- Two student representatives who are the president and vice-president academics of SPSA
- One college representative from the partner organizations to Saskatchewan Polytechnic
- All Saskatchewan Polytechnic academic deans, as ex-officio members
- Vice-provost as ex officio member and council chair
- The associate vice-president, Learning and Teaching, as ex officio member and council vice chair
Each faculty and student member is eligible to serve a two year term, with one renewal possible, for a maximum of four years' consecutive service.

- President
- Provost and vice-president, Academic
- Director, Enrolment Services and Registrar
- Associate vice-president, Applied Research and Innovation
- Associate vice-president, Student Services
- Special advisor to the provost
